Gum disease treatment methods

Periodontal disease treatment is divided into non-surgical periodontal treatment (scaling, root planing) and surgical periodontal treatment (subgingival curettage, flap curettage, bone grafting), and proceeds in stages. What matters is not missing the right time for treatment.

Gum treatment
  • Gum treatment
  • Tartar removal (scaling)

A treatment that removes plaque, tartar, and the like attached to the tooth surface to treat and prevent gum inflammation. Even people with good oral condition should receive scaling once every 6 months to 1 year.

  • Gum treatment
  • Root planing / periodontal curettage

If the tartar has progressed deep inside the gums, treatment is needed to scrape out the tartar and gum inflammation that have settled inside the gums.

  • Gum treatment
  • Periodontal surgery (gum surgery)

When teeth are loose or there is pus in the gums, after anesthesia, instruments are inserted deep into the gums for treatment, and in some cases the gums are incised to proceed.
